Yerevan is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Armenia, the largest industrial and economic center of the state. It is one of the oldest cities in the world.
It is located in the Ararat Valley, as well as on the volcanic plateau to the north of it, on the left bank of the Araks River. The population is 1,092,700 (as of January 1, 2022). The area of the city is 223 km². Yerevan is a political, economic, cultural and scientific center, as well as the most important transportation hub of Armenia. The city has two airports, a railway station and a metro station.
